With a consumer-driven healthcare market on the rise, HAP identified the need to develop a course for consumers on how to become more knowledgeable and active participants in their healthcare choices. Wise Health Care Consumer is deployed through HAP's public Web site and has also been delivered on CD through direct mail. HAP provides CD copies of the course to prospective members during presentations and conferences on insurance benefits and healthcare options. The course contains information on the following topics: Privacy Rights, Prescription Drugs, Emergency vs. Urgent Care, Choosing a Primary Care Physician, Chronic Illness, etc.
